This mango-blueberry smoothie also provides plenty of healthy amino acids, vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. Mangoes are high in vitamin C and iron, and the antioxidant beta carotene. Blueberries are considered a superfood because their antioxidant anthrocyanins have been found to help protect against infection, decrease aging in the brain and lower cholesterol levels.

Drinking a smoothie is a great way to start your day and to ensure you are getting the nutrients you need to keep yourself healthy. And they're so yummy that you may want one for a pick-me-up later in the day.

Mango-Blueberry Smoothie

Ingredients

1 cup chopped mango, fresh or frozen

1 cup buttermilk, plain low fat yogurt, almond or rice milk

2 teaspoons mild honey such as clover

1 cup fresh or frozen blueberries

1 1/2 teaspoon freshly squeezed lime juice

6 raw almonds

2 ice cubes, if desired

Instructions

Blend all ingredients in a blender until smooth.
